Solar energy
Independence from the grid
STEVE, HALIFAX RENEWABLES
“We can accurately calculate a conservative estimate of what your roof will generate.”
One of the most persistent myths in the UK is that it isn’t sunny enough for solar panels.
In reality, modern solar arrays run on daylight, not just direct, blinding sunlight. Whenever a panel is exposed to daylight, it is generating power for your home.
Solar technology is one of the fastest-growing markets globally because the initial installation has become highly affordable, while the grid energy it replaces has become incredibly expensive.
With a decade of historical data, we can accurately calculate a conservative estimate of what your roof will generate, and our customers almost always exceed those predictions over the course of a year.
Battery storage and system synergy.
Battery technology, driven by the electric vehicle market, is advancing rapidly.
Adding a battery to your solar array allows you to store the energy generated during the day and use it to power your home through the evening.
Furthermore, modern solar battery systems can provide emergency backup power during a grid outage. The switchover is so seamless that you often won’t even see the lights flicker when the main power drops.
When you combine solar solutions with a heat pump, you create the ultimate energy synergy.
In the long “shoulder months” of spring and autumn, your solar array can directly power your heat pump for long periods.
For many of our customers, their heating and electricity bills drop to virtually zero during the spring because their solar generation perfectly matches their heat pump’s consumption.
In-roof vs on-roof
For heritage properties, or homes undergoing a roof refurbishment, we highly recommend “in-roof” solar installations.
Rather than drilling holes into your existing roof to mount brackets and rails, in-roof panels sit flush with your tiles, integrated seamlessly with robust, weatherproof flashing. This provides a much cleaner, less obtrusive aesthetic.
If you are replacing a roof, in-roof solar makes incredible economic sense. Because traditional Yorkshire stone slate is so expensive, the cost of the solar installation is frequently offset by the money saved on the stone tiles you no longer need to buy.
Unprecedented reliability
Solar panels require virtually no ongoing maintenance aside from occasional cleaning and standard electrical safety checks. Because they have no moving parts and do not perform a “hard” mechanical job, they are phenomenally reliable.
In fact, some of our manufacturing partners offer unprecedented 30-year product warranties – a guarantee virtually unheard of in any other industry.
