MVHR stands for Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery. In highly insulated new builds or deep retrofits, the buildings are so airtight that fresh air must be mechanically circulated. MVHR controls this ventilation while capturing the heat that would normally escape and reusing it to warm the incoming air. It is so efficient that it can sometimes allow you to install a smaller heat pump.
